Voltage Optimisation

In the UK, Electricity is supplied at around 240 volts, which compared to most countries is high. Electrical equipment manufacturers produce electrical products to suit the whole world and therefore their products are able to work across a wide voltage range, anywhere beteen 207 and 253 volts. This wasted energy not only costs you money, it also causes your appliances to wear out more quickly. This is because they deal with the extra volatge by generating heat or vibration. By installing a voltage optimisation unit in your home, voltage will typically be reduced to around 220 volts, ensuring all your appliances and circuits run perfectly well. This helps save money on your electricity bill and reduces carbon emissions. We would be happy to survey and quote for any optimisation requirements.

Power Factor Correction

Power factor is a measure of how efficiently electrical power is consumed. In an ideal world power factor would be UNITY (or 1). Unfortunately in the real world power factor is reduced by highly inductive loads to 0.7 or less. This induction is caused by equipment such as lightly loaded electrical motors, luminair transformers, flourescent lighting, ballast and welding sets etc.

The electricity supply companies have to supply extra to make up for the loss caused by poor electrical factor. When the power factor falls below a set figure, the electricity companies charge a premium on the KW being consumed. This is known as the reactive power charge on the electricity bill and is directed at those companies who do not demonstrate clear energy effiicency use. Reactive power charges can be made significantly smaller by the introduction of power factor correction capacitors, which is a widely recognised method of reducing electrical load and minimising wasted energy, improving the efficiency of plant and reducing your electricity bill. A full site survey and monitoring can be carried out to determine what type and size of system is required to meet current and future needs

Energy Efficient Lightning & Controls

As energy costs increase, low energy lighting is fast becoming the norm, as old inefficient bulbs are phased out, new technology is developing quickly and there is a wide range of products to choose from.

Compact Flourescent Light bulbs (CFL), Light Emitting Diodes (LED) and Induction (ID) will eventually replace traditional GLS light bulbs, inefficient flourescent tubes, halogen flood lights and downlights, sodium and metal halide industrial lighting. The new technology coupled with occupancy and movement sensors, photocells and lighting programming systems can result in massive reduction in energy usage.

Heating Controls

The majority of energy consumption in your home is from heating and hot water. Improving the efficiency of your heating and hot water system is the most effective way to reduce your homes energy consumption. There are two ways to improve the efficiency of your system to work in harmony with your lifestyle. Fitting controls will save money even if your boiler is ineficient, room thermastats, programmers, hot water controllers (timers) and radiator valves will all improve the efficiency of your system. By zoneing your property there will be different areas that do not need as much heat, you can split your house or work place into seperate heat areas with different heat times and temperatures. For total comfort we offer the best in weather compensation systems, whereby the system takes into account the temperature of the outside air, to ensure that the inside of the building is correctly compensated.
